Minority Report like Screen

Once again, sci-fi has inspirated science in order to invent new techlogies, in this case a screen that can be controlled by hands.
This is most natural as it could get (at least for now). It works with 3D CGI and the instintive movement of the hands guides the CPU. Let say you wanna closeup, well, you simply "dig" into de image and if you wanna rotate it, you simply move ypur hand sideways.
Imagine a 3D creation software!!!
Modelling and animating would be great!!!

Talking about inspirational, Blur Studio has been a production house that since we first watched their demo reel made us believe we could actually achieve our goal.
They've worked for MTV, Disney, big Hollywood companies, etc.
This short film is really great...

Melted Bridge

A bridge in California literally melted after a pipe of gas crashed and let the burning fuel in the bridge. The structure didn't hang and the bridge support melted and then fell to another section of the bridge.
The good news are that no one was harmed, but the traffic around the area...............

The moment I took it a thought i'd use it for some photo manipulation or as a BG, but then i realized the felling of it and i never could change it in any way until now... but I simply level it and changed the hue a bit to blues. As for the title, that was my first impression of it. For the mayans, the life on Earth is controlled by a great tree, the "Ceiba Azul"...

Wow... I've just discovered that there's a lot of people doing this diciplined and hard experiment.
You're to take a photo of yourself, as similar to the older as possible, for at least two years.
The result is awesome!
Here's a clip of about one minute, which means she only made it up to two years.

Hawking take a 0G fly

Stephen Hawking, the father of our present understanding on black holes and the universe growth, finally managed to take the now popular zero gravity flight.
Along with his whole medical staff, he got to gravitate for some seconds in each dive the special airforce plane took to compensate earth's gravity field.

I know this might sound kindda trivial, but just consider that this man, the father of modern physics, has been in a wheel chair for more than four decades and that he's unable to move anypart of his body except fot some facial muscles, and given that he has teach us how gravity really works in the universe, it's fair for him to expience the lack of it.

International Underground Tunnel

There's been plan to bring back to life an old project wich would join easter Russia with western USA. This plan first came to scene at the end of the Cold War, the moment Boris Yeltzin (who has just die a few days ago) took the lead of the new russian democracy.
As it was to be expected, with the dead of Yeltzin and the denial of russian goverment to install a missile wall protection for the US, this "armony" plans comes to discussion again.
But seeing beyond the pollitics, this would be a project so huge like nothing ever before. It would mean the first earth transport join between the two continents.
At the same time, this would bring back from death the NY/Paris undersea train.
Hopefully, this project will absorb public atention and we will finally start forgetting the war nonesense and start creating some unity bridges.

Aborto

Bueno, se acaba de aprobar una reforma de ley que permite en la ciudad de México el aborto hasta la 12va semana de gestación. Como era de esperarse, el pais entero se dividió de la manera mas absurda. No importaron los valores, las convicciones ni la razón, el pais se dividió en partidos políticos. Esto, como era de esperarse, se convirtió en un ir y venir de insultos y protestas callejeras.
Para mi esta no es una cuestión tan difícil de resolver.

Primero. La intervención de la iglesia católica romana fue punto clave. Protegieron sus "creencias" y se encargaron de llevar a todos sus "subscriptores" el mensaje de que el aborto es un acto castigado por Dios. Claro que la sodomia y la pedofilia no lo son, ya que parece que sus sacerdotes lo realizan con la mayor libertad, así como los abortos ilegales (quen un muchos casos pasa de aborto a asesinato) que se han descubierto en conventos en todo el mundo, ya que obviamente los "bien intencionados" sacerdotes tienen relaciones con las monjas (entiendase que las violan), las dejan embarazadas y las obligan a abortar después, escondiendo el feto -o inclusive el bebé- en los jardines de los conventos.
Pero bueno, eso no es para nada nuevo, y una cosa es que esos hijos de la chingada no tengan humanidad y otra lo que la religión profeza.
Estoy totalmente deacuerdo en que un políotico, del partido que sea, pueda tener su fe, seguirla y dejarse guiar por esos valores y ordenansas que su religión conlleva. Pero no es posible que la Iglesia mexicana, guiada por el máximo gangster-pedófilo-narcotraficante Norberto Rivera influya tanto en una decisión de Estado como esta.

Segundo. Del otro lado de la balanza se encuentarn todas las asociaciones liberales que buscan una opción para el problema de la sobrepoblación, la pobreza y la falta de oportunidades.
Como se ha mencionado, al año mueren 2,000 mujeres en México (con todo y el bebé) que abortan ilegalmente sometiendoce a condiciones por demás antihigiénicas y peligrosas. Claro, el gobierno sabe de estas dos mil mujeres ya que son el número de mujeres que llegan a un hospital con alguna complicación derivada de un aborto ilegal. Realmente es imposible saber cuantas mueren al año en estas practicas ya que muchas nisiquiera han de llegar al hospital.
Viendo estas dos facciones, para mi la decisión es extremadamente sencilla:
El gobierno debe de atender la necesidad de miles de mujeres que realmente desean abortar -por distintas razones- y que además están en todo su derecho de hacerlo si así lo desean. A parte, el gobierno debe de garantizar el minimo de seguirdad para la mujer en este procedimiento (que nunca dejará de ser peligroso) y debe de garantizar una asesoría psicológica y social sobre las concecuencias de dicho acto... y si tus convicciones, religión o lo que sea no te permite o te convence de realizar un aborto, puedes simplemente no llevarlo a cabo. Ni tu familia, ni tus amistades ni tu Diós de lo recrimará ya que tu simplemente tomaste la decisión de no hacerlo.
¿Sencillo no?

El problema realmente aquí es concientizar a la sociedad mexicana de que un aborto -legal ó ilegal- sigue siendo un acto antinatural y por demás peligroso. Y aunque el aborto ahora es legal,la concientización debe llevar a la prevención.
Honestamente no creo que los mexicanos estemos listos para esta libertad que nos hemos otorgado y mucho menos para las concecuencias y/o beneficios que esta ley traiga a futuro.
Al final de cuentas, es uno mismo el que dará cuentas a uno mismo. Si haces algo QUE TU SABES que está mal, entonces ese acto se traduce en crueldad. La convicción en cualquiera de los dos casos es la que debe sobrepasar la presión social y llegar a un fin mejor.
Nos dejaron la tarea... procuremos en primera instancia no llegar a tener que hacerla y si se diera el caso, hacer lo mejor para nosotros mismos.

Somehow, in our human nature, we've always sensed that there's a lot more in nature than we get to see.
As science has grown an madurated, it has explained to us the simple reaction and has written laws that have worked so far. But we know there's more.
Now, NASA has studied low frecuency waves emmiting from the sun. Something not so strange, for everything emmits this waves -even us. But by playing them, they discovered that it actuallt sounded very good. "Armonic" they say. OF COURSE it is armonic. Nature is harmony.
This, to me, is one step into what's been growing so far: A science totally free to study, to realize there's got to more than what "moder science" told us since the 1890's.

Toros

Lo he dicho miles de veces... ¿Qué culpa tienen los toros?
Se que el toro siempre ha sido el animal que ha representado en las culturas ibéricas la masculinidad, la última prueba. El minotauro... el gran toro sagrado al que se ofrendaban recien nacidos.
Pero la estupidez humana no ha permitido que estas prácticas (me refiero a las corridas de toros, no a los sacrificios de recién nacidos :P) se termine. Un rabom una oreja... son el pretexto para criar a un toro, entrenarlo y después mandarlo al matadero. La excusa de la hombría y la valentía cree poder esconder el hecho de que domingo a domingo se lleva a cabo una masacre.
Pero el otro lado, es cuando el toro se carga al torero. Pobres toreros ¿no?... ellos solo querían demostrar que eran hombres... era su obligación... no sabían hacer nada mejor... AL CARAJO CON ELLOS.
Y ahora, el mundo se conmociona porque un chavito español de 14 años fue embestido en Aguascalientes por un toro, que le atravezó el torax, lo arrastró y después lo mandó a volar. El chavito (pobrecito...) tirado en el suelo, solo decía "papá, me muero..." PUES CLARO QUE TE MUERES... su papá también es un español idiota que se vino a México a las corridas.
¿Cuándo va a entender la gente que eso no es siquiera un deporte?
Protestan cuando les llega el mail en Power Point de la matanza de focas bebé. Cuando sale en las noticias que ya se extinguen los osos y las ballenas... pero cada domingo van a ponerse pedos en la Arena y animan de la manera mas retrograda posible a un wey (que obviamente se siente el centro del universo) a matar a un toro.
Conclusión... no hay. No la ha habido durante siglos, no aspiro a llegar a una. Lo que si se, es que toda la gente que practica esto y que anima esto, no merecen concideración en cuanto a lo que el "bien" se refiere...

Mused

Tuvimos el agradable placer de asistir al conciertazo que dio Muse anoche en El Palacio de los Deportes. He de decir que apesar de las 2 horas de camino, no haber dormido durante las 48 horas previas al concierto y una hora buscando estacionamiento, es por mucho el mejor concierto de rock al que he asistido.
La energia de la banda en el escenario es imponente, ya que son ellos solos los que llevan el show. Sin pirotecnia, sin luces apantallantes ni escenografía portentosa, esta banda inglesa toco de todo un poco de su repertorio (omitieron mucho a su album Showbiz...) demostrando el virtuosismo de los tres en sus diferentes instrumentos. El Palacio estaba a reventar y la gente realmente fue a escuchar la música de Muse. Los coros desgarradores y los solos sumamente amplificados arrancaban ovaciones cada vez y despues de tocar Stockolm Syndrom, Time is Running Out y cerrar con Knights of Cydonia la gente quedó totalmente satisfecha.
Lleno de pequeñas improvisaciones como pie a las canciones y con solo tres pausas para tomar oxigeno en una de las ciudades mas altas de América durante unconcierto de tres horas... creo que Muse no desilucionó a nadie.

The chicken T-Rex

Well, it was the king of it's era. One of the biggest predators in prehistory, but still, it turns out that it evolved into our beloved and always funny chickens.
This -as funny as it may sound- it's a "milestones" for the arqueology as we know it, for the way it was discovered. There have been discoveries that prehistoric animal's fossils (rock and minerals that cover the actual bone and then replace it in shape) aren't quite build as we believed. Now, we're founding that there are real dinosaurs bones out there. An even more sorprising, there are pieces of dinausar skin within the bone. This is how the chicken/T Rex relation was found.
Of course, the theory of dinausaurs evolving into birds have been around for a while. But this is the evidence of this. Besides, the study of dinasaurs have stop being exclusive por paleonthology, but moved to the biochimistry.
One of those events that will surely leave a mark in our future understanding and colective knowledge.

Spiderman 4?

Well, we still haven't seen Spiderman 3 and we're already talking about the fourth. I mean... 400 million per movie!!! I bet there will be a fourth. I sincerely doubt all the cast would return, but having opened the door with Venom, a fourth delivery of the wall crawler ain't that hard.
We'll have to wait and see.

The real big Question

We all have -even if denied- seen another person. The flash sight of a pretty girl or a real hot girl. But when does flirting becomes cheating? I know it's a tricky question, but still, we all would feel so much better if we knew.
Here is an article wich leads the answers of many americans about in wich situations they feel like cheating, from the flash pic to the ex relation.
For me, cheating is very simple to understand. Cheating is cheating when you know you are cheating. You may see a girl on the street, no harm done. You could even follow her with you eyes (even the head :P) but still it ain't nothing but a simple (natural) attraction. But when you walk and ask her out... that's different.
I believe the problem comes when you gotta tell if your couple is cheating. Maybe for somebody ending up in bed ain't cheating because of the emotional relation, but maybe it is gor his/her couple. As always, comunication in the relation is the most important key.

Te levantas, te bañas, tal vez desayunas.
Sales de tu casa (cierras bien) y te vas directo a tus actividades diarias. Con suerte pasarás el día ocupado y no sentirás la pesadez del día.
Regresas, cenas, ves televisión (basura) y de nuevo vas a dormir, sabiendo que al día siguiente todo se repetirá.

Para mucha gente ese es el esquema. A muchos les fastidía la rutina. A muchos les da seguridad. Pero entre esta rutina, los programas de TV baratos, las canciones prefabricadas y la comida enlatada, rara vez recordamos que hay paises enteros -la gente que vive en ellos- que sufren día a día. Me gustaría saber que opinaría un iraní de nuestra rutina. Una rutina sin violencia, sin balas que pasan al lado de tu oido mucho antes de que escuches la detonación del arma automática con la que te disparan. Una rutina donde solo hay que estirar la mano (a veces ni siquiera eso) y obtienes alimento, diversión y paz. Una rutina donde lo que pasó ayer es simplemente el pasado, ni glorioso ni digno de ser recordado. ¿Quién recuerda donde estaba hace cuatro años, una noche en la que la vida de naciones enteras cambio?
¿Quién se preocupa por los demás?

Hace cuatro años, vimos por CNN como el ejercito de EU atacaba por primera vez desde la seguiradad de sus porta aviones la ciudad de Bahgdad, vimos como el sufrimiento de un pueblo aparentemente oprimido se agudizaba al son de las bombas americanas. Cuatro años, en los que individuos como tu ó yo comenzaron una lucha por sus vidas. ¿Quien tiene mas derecho? ¿Un iraní que lucha día a día junto con sus familiares, amigos, vecinos por la seguridad de su familia ó el solado norteamericano al que desde el día de su nacimiento le inculcaron que el mayor logro en su vida es morir por su país?

Hace cuatro años yo si recuerdo donde estaba: Precisamente sentado frente a mi televisión (viendo CNN) y realizando trabajos de mi primer año de la carrera. Hace cuatro años... mi hija empezaba su educación preescolar. Una pequeña vida a transcurrido desde entonces. Todos hemos cambiado. Crecimos. Tuvimos el privelegio de vivir hasta el día de hoy, un privilegio que muchos no tuvieron. Muchas carreras universitarias que en el mejor de los casos fueron abandonadas... muchos niños preescolares que nunca sabrán que es una escuela.

Guerra siempre ha habido, está en nuestros genes, en nuestra naturaleza. La muerte es la constante, pero impartir muerte ha sido nuestra prioridad. Mucho se puede hablar de política, economía, religión... pero nada justifica el que a cuatro años del enfrentamiento bélico de medio oriente ya nadie recuerde qué es eso. Que la guerra sea costumbre, que sea una pequeña nota en las noticias, que sea uncontador de victimas fatales que vemos ya sin el menor remordimiento.

Si eso es hoy, ¿qué será dentro de cuatro años?

Sgt. Pepper back to the lines

As a celebration for the 40th anniversary of the legendary Beatles' album, a few bands and artists will record, in the old fashion way- the whole disc.
Oasis, Travis, The Killers among other "high" artists will give us they interpretation of old song that remain just as alive than 40 years ago.
They will be broadcast on an special radio program on July 1st and for sure, we'll buy the album a few weeks later.
There are too many Beatles covers out there, I mean, whole generation have grown with them, but it is always nice to listen this good tracks brought to live again.
